Punjab: Two loco pilots injured in collision between two goods trains

Fatehgarh Sahib. Two loco pilots (train drivers) were injured when a stationary goods train collided with another goods train at Sirhind railway station in Punjab on Sunday morning. A Government Railway Police official gave this information. Due to the collision, the engine of one of the trains went on the other track and collided with a passenger train, the official said.

He said that the incident took place near Madhopur in Sirhind and in this incident loco pilots Vikas Kumar and Himanshu Kumar were injured.
A doctor at the government hospital in Fatehgarh Sahib said Vikas Kumar had sustained head injuries and Himanshu Kumar had sustained back injuries and they were referred to Rajendra Hospital in Patiala.

Railway officials said efforts were being made to restore rail services and some trains were being run via Rajpura, Patiala and Dhuri and some via Chandigarh. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the district administration had been directed to provide all possible assistance. Mann said on the social media platform ‘X’, “There have been reports of two trains colliding at Sirhind railway station. Thank God there was no loss of life.”
