Raigarh. A villager was killed in an attack by a wild elephant in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district, officials said on Wednesday. Officials said a tribal labourer died on the spot in an elephant attack in the Dharamjaigarh area of the district this afternoon. Dharamjaigarh Forest Divisional Officer Abhishek Jogawat said Shiv Prasad Rathia (23) was killed in an elephant attack near Bakaruma village when he was returning after working as a labourer.
Jogawat said that on the information of the villagers, the forest department staff reached the spot and Shiv Prasad, a resident of Sohanpur village, was taken to the hospital in Dharamjaigarh, where the doctors declared him dead. He said that the forest department has given immediate financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to the family of the deceased. The officer said that the department has registered a case and started investigating the matter.
