Raipur: Fire in a mattress factory, two women workers died

Raipur. Two women workers died in a fire at a mattress manufacturing factory in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur on Wednesday. Police gave this information. Raipur district’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Singh said that a fire broke out at Guru Nanak Mattress Sleep Company, a mattress manufacturing unit in Gondwara area under Khamtarai police station area this afternoon and two workers – Yamuna and Rameshwari – died in the incident.

Singh said that when the workers were working in the factory, a fire suddenly broke out there and after the incident, the employees and other people present there tried to extinguish the fire. He said that fire brigade vehicles were also sent on information. He said that when the fire broke out in the factory, seven employees were working there, out of which five were rescued but two women residents of Sarora area died.

The police officer said that the fire has been brought under control and government officials are present on the spot. According to him, the bodies are being sent for post-mortem. He said that no information has been received about the cause of the fire. Singh said that more information will be available in this regard only after investigating the matter.
