Raising questions on EVMs has become a habit of Congress: BJP

The Uncut

New Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday targeted the Congress and said that under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, it has become a habit of the opposition party to raise questions on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), constitutional institutions and democracy every time it loses the election. BJP’s media chief and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni described Congress’s reaction to the defeat in Haryana as another example of this habit.

Baluni also took aim at Congress’s claim that its victory in Haryana was certain and said similar claims were made in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan ahead of the 2023 assembly elections. He said that the truth is that Congress has lost its touch with the people and has become demoralized.

Baluni said that Rahul Gandhi spreads lies and confusion on every issue without any reason and after maintaining silence on the day of results, starts promoting ‘old propaganda’. He said that Congress brings out this propaganda after every election defeat. The BJP leader said that Congress should introspect on the defeat but it has become clear that the party has not been able to overcome its ‘feudal mentality’. Baluni alleged that Congress defames all constitutional institutions for its own convenience.

He said, “EVMs have been tested repeatedly and have been successful every time. The Supreme Court has maintained its credibility. But Congress cannot hold back from defaming the country.” Meanwhile, a Congress delegation met the Election Commission and demanded a thorough investigation into the ‘glitch’ found in some EVMs during the counting of Haryana Assembly elections. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had said that the party was analyzing the ‘unexpected’ results in Haryana and would apprise the Commission about the complaints received from various constituencies in the state.
