Budaun: Remains of a deer have allegedly been found in a nursery of the forest department in Badaun district. It is alleged that an officer of the department killed the deer and feasted on its meat. The matter is being investigated.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Pradeep Kumar Verma said on Wednesday that Forest Sub-Inspector Jitendra Kumar had received information about a dead deer in Behta Gusai of Bilsi area, which was buried without post-mortem. Departmental action will be taken against whoever is responsible in the case.

The matter came to light on Tuesday when People for Animals (PFA) organisation’s district president Vikendra Sharma accused forest sub-inspector Jitendra Kumar of killing the deer and hosting a feast of its meat, and claimed that after hosting a feast for his friends, Kumar buried the remains of the deer in the forest department’s nursery located in Kaulhai village under Muzaria police station area.
