New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested its MLA Amanatullah Khan in a “fake” case and that the more the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tries to suppress the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, the more vocal it will raise its voice.
AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh claimed that Khan was arrested “without any evidence”. On Monday, the ED arrested Khan, an MLA from Okhla in Delhi, and some others in a money laundering case, official sources said.
The agency conducted searches at his residence in Okhla following which he was detained under various provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). AAP posted on the social media site ‘X’, “Revolutionaries will not bow down before the tyranny of the dictator”.
BJP’s ED has arrested Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan in a fake case. The more BJP tries to suppress us, the more vocal our voice will be.” Singh said that this “bullying” of BJP will cost the party dearly in the Delhi Assembly elections and it will have to face defeat.
In a post on ‘X’, the senior AAP leader alleged that Khan was forcibly arrested “without any evidence”. The money laundering case against the MLA is linked to two FIRs. One FIR was registered against Khan by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on charges of irregularities in the Wakf Board while the other FIR was registered by Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a disproportionate assets case.
