Rs 5,600 crore drug seizure case: BJP accuses accused of giving post in Youth Congress

The Uncut

New Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday alleged that the main accused arrested in the case of seizure of Rs 5,600 crore related to the drug trade here has been made the chairman of the Right to Information (RTI) cell of the Delhi unit of the Indian Youth Congress.

Congress termed these allegations as baseless and false and said that the main accused Tushar Goyal, mentioned by the ruling party, was expelled from the organization on October 17, 2022 itself on charges of anti-party activities. BJP spokesperson and MP Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized Congress over its alleged links with drug smugglers involved in ruining the country and sought clarification from the main opposition party.

He questioned whether Congress is using drug money in its campaign and whether the party’s relationship with alleged kingpin Tushar Goyal also extends to business? He said, “That is, it is becoming clear that till now the goods of hatred were visible in the shop of love of Rahul Gandhi, but now the goods of intoxication are also available.” He asked whether there is any such arrangement between drug dealers and Congress that if the party comes to power, they will be given a free hand in Haryana? Trivedi claimed that Goyal not only had photographs with senior Congress leaders like KC Venugopal and Deepender Singh Hooda but also had Hooda’s mobile number.

He said that the Hooda family should also give an explanation. He read out the letter of Goyal’s appointment as head of RTI cell of Delhi Youth Congress before the media and claimed that it also mentioned top Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Youth Congress issued a statement refuting BJP’s allegations and also shared a copy of Goyal’s expulsion letter. The organization claimed that these allegations are a malicious attempt by the BJP to influence the Haryana Assembly elections.

The youth wing of Congress said, “We condemn the baseless allegations made by Sudhanshu Trivedi. He falsely claimed that Tushar Goyal, the alleged mastermind of the Rs 5,600 crore drug bust in Delhi, is the president of Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress RTI Cell.” Youth Congress said that Tushar Goyal was expelled from the organization on October 17, 2022 due to anti-party activities and since then he is not with us in any way.

Citing some reports, he claimed, “Tushar Goyal himself has confessed to the police that he was the former president of Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress RTI Cell in 2021-22, but later he left the organization. It is clear that BJP is trying to tarnish the image of the Congress party and its leaders by using wrong information.” Youth Congress said that BJP should trust Delhi Police instead of fabricating half-baked political stories. She said, “We urge the Delhi Police to take strict action against the arrested people and not allow this case to become a malicious political campaign.”
