New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday condoled the death of renowned Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy and said her dedication to Indian classical dance has left an indelible mark on the cultural scene. Krishnamurthy died on Saturday at Apollo Hospital in Delhi. She was 84 years old. Krishnamurthy’s manager and secretary Ganesh told PTI that she was suffering from age-related problems and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the last seven months.
Modi said in a post on ‘X’, “Saddened by the demise of Dr. Yamini Krishnamurthy. Her dedication and excellence in Indian classical dance has inspired generations and left an indelible mark on our cultural landscape.” The Prime Minister said, “She has done a lot to enrich our heritage. Condolences to her family and fans. Om Shanti.”
