New Delhi: Saurabh Chandrakar, the mastermind of Mahadev App, is being brought to India from Dubai. According to the information received, Saurabh Chandrakar, who committed a scam of about Rs 6 thousand crores through Mahadev Satta App, has been taken into custody in Dubai.
He can be brought to India within a week.
According to media reports, this action has been taken on the basis of Red Corner Notice of Interpol. Which was issued on the request of the Enforcement Directorate. ED, External Affairs Ministry and Home Ministry have jointly taken major action in this matter.
Juice shop used to run in Chhattisgarh
Let it be known that Saurabh Chandrakar used to run a simple juice center in Bhilai city of Chhattisgarh, but with his cunning mind he traveled the journey to become the kingpin of Mahadev Satta App. The Indian government was continuously trying to bring Saurabh Chandrakar to India.
It is noteworthy that mastermind Saurabh Chandrakar, who had committed a scam of about Rs 6 thousand crore across the country through the much-discussed Mahadev Satta app, used to control even the top officials while sitting in Dubai during the tenure of the previous Congress government of Chhattisgarh. The dark truth of Mahadev Satta App came to light after the ED investigation. After which the ED interrogated many big leaders and police officers including former CM Bhupesh Baghel in the case and action was also taken against many businessmen and officers.
What is Mahadev App?
Mahadev betting app is operated through many digital mediums. In this betting app, people are offered to invest money in gambling. Through the website of Mahadev Book, money is placed on poker, card games, cricket, badminton, tennis, football matches in the country. Like every gambling, in this app also people waste their money in the greed of earning more.
ED’s action, intense politics
On October 21, 2023, before the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, the ED had filed its first charge sheet in this case, in which 14 accused including Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal were named. The investigating agency had temporarily attached proceeds of crime worth Rs 41 crore. Ravi Uppal, one of the primary promoters, has been arrested by Dubai Police following a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol at the behest of the Enforcement Directorate. Apart from this, the ED has raided several hideouts linked to hawala operators in several cities across the country. In this action, assets worth about Rs 417 crore were attached.
Saurabh Chandrakar is a resident of Bhilai, the hometown of former CM Bhupesh Baghel. During the Chhattisgarh assembly elections, major allegations were made against Bhupesh Baghel in the Mahadev Satta App case. ED had alleged in the investigation that Bhupesh had taken Rs 508 crore as protection money from Ravi Uppal and Saurabh Chandrakar, owners of Mahadev Satta App. At that time, BJP had made it a serious issue, due to which Congress had to suffer the loss in the elections.
112 crores were looted in marriage
Last year, many Bollywood celebrities, singers, actors and comedians came under the radar of ED in the Mahadev betting app case. The names of these celebrities came to light because of their association with Saurabh Chandrakar. According to ED, Rs 112 crore was paid through a management company for Saurabh Chandrakar’s wedding ceremony. At the same time, a huge amount of Rs 42 crore was given through cash for hotel booking. Before banning this betting app, the Indian government had banned a total of 138 online betting apps and 94 digital loan apps in 2023.
