Security forces have got another major success on the Naxal front, two rewarded Naxalites including a woman were killed in an encounter in the Kerjhari forest area in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. They have been identified as Sajanti alias Kranti and Raghu alias Shersingh. Appreciating the bravery of the security forces, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced appropriate rewards to the policemen involved in the anti-Naxal operation.

Balaghat police said that a reward of Rs 29 lakh was declared on 38-year-old Sajanti. At the same time, there was a reward of Rs 14 lakh on 52 year old Raghu. Cases related to murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping and arson were registered against both of them in Madhya Pradesh. Some Naxalites have been injured in the firing. An AK-47 rifle, a 12 bore rifle and some essential items have been recovered from the spot. Details of criminal cases registered in other states against the slain Naxalites are being collected. CRPF and Hawk Force personnel are still conducting search operations in the area.

On Tuesday morning also, security forces killed 10 Naxalites including a woman during an encounter in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Bijapur police said that the encounter took place in the forest of Lendra village under Gangalur police station area of ​​the district. In retaliation, the security forces killed 10 Naxalites including a woman Naxalite. After receiving information about Naxalite activity in Gangalur police station area, security forces were sent for anti-Naxalite operation on Monday. The team included personnel from DRG, STF and Cobra battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force.

Naxalites started firing on soldiers at 6 in the morning

Bijapur Police said that when the team was in the forest of Lendra village, the Naxalites started firing on the soldiers at 6 am on Tuesday. After this the soldiers also retaliated. After firing from both sides for some time, the Naxalites fled from there. Later, during the search of the spot, bodies of nine Naxalites, one LMG, one 303 rifle, one 12 bore gun, a large number of BGL launchers and other weapons and explosive materials were recovered. Many Naxalites are likely to be injured in the encounter.

6 Naxalites were killed on March 27

Earlier, on March 27, security forces had killed six Naxalites in an encounter in Basaguda area of ​​Bijapur. With this incident, 43 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters with security forces in Bastar region including Bijapur district so far this year. Bijapur district falls in Bastar Lok Sabha constituency where voting will be held in the first phase of general elections on April 19.
