New Delhi. Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Maidan’ won the Best Asian Film award at the ‘Septimius’ Awards 2024 in the Netherlands, while actor Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub won the Best Actor award. At the ceremony held on 19-20 August at the Tuschinski Theater in Amsterdam, Zeeshan was chosen as the Best Asian Actor for his performance in the 2023 crime drama series ‘Scoop’ and director Amit Ravindranath Sharma’s film ‘Maidan’ was chosen as the Best Asian Film.
Zeeshan received a lot of praise from the audience for his role of Imran Siddiqui, a principled editor of a newspaper organization in “Scoop”. The film’s director Hansal Mehta congratulated the actor on winning the ‘Septimius’ award and called him a “strong supporter of new talent and visionary ideas”.
Mehta wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “You can’t suppress a talented person. Congratulations to Zeeshan for this very late but very well-deserved award.” Zeeshan replied to the director, “Thank you very much sir.” “Maidaan”, centered on the golden era of Indian football, is based on the true story of Syed Abdul Rahim, starring Ajay Devgan, who served as the coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 to his death in 1963. The film was released in theaters on Eid in April after several delays.
The film’s producer Boney Kapoor wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Congratulations to our hardworking and dedicated cast and crew who made the ground grand.” According to the official website of the Septimius Award, this award is a prestigious award ceremony, which emphasizes the discovery and encouragement of new independent talent, support of visionary films and bringing together all the elements of filmmaking and storytelling.
