Shiv Nadar is at the forefront in charitable works among the Indian rich, Ambani is second and Adani is at fifth place.

Mumbai. Shiv Nadar of HCL Technologies has once again left behind the richest people of the country in terms of philanthropy in the financial year 2023-24. According to the philanthropy list of Edelgive-Hurun India, Nadar’s share in philanthropic work increased by five percent to Rs 2,153 crore in the financial year 2023-24. This amount is much higher than the Rs 330 crore of the country’s richest Indian Gautam Adani and Rs 407 crore of the second richest Reliance Industries’ Mukesh Ambani. In this list, Ambani is at second place and Adani is at fifth place.

The Bajaj family, which has interests in the automotive and finance sectors, donated Rs 352 crore, up 33 per cent year-on-year, to charitable causes and placed third in the list. Kumaramangalam Birla and his family stood fourth with total donations of Rs 334 crore, an increase of 17 per cent year-on-year.

According to Hurun’s rich list, there were a total of 203 individuals who spent more than Rs 5 crore on charity. The total wealth of 1,539 people was more than Rs 1,000 crore and their total wealth increased by 46 percent this year.
Interestingly, the average donation given by the 203 donors included in the list has declined to Rs 43 crore from Rs 71 crore given by the 119 donors included in the 2023 list. Nadar is third in the list of rich with assets worth Rs 3.14 lakh crore, while Adani’s wealth is Rs 11.6 lakh crore and Ambani’s wealth is Rs 10.14 lakh crore.
