Soldiers never die, they live in the hearts of India: Mother of a gallantry award winning officer

The Uncut

New Delhi. Fatima Bohra, mother of Major Mustafa Bohra who sacrificed his life for the country, says that soldiers never die, rather they live in the hearts of entire India. Mustafa was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his sacrifice. Shaurya Chakra is the third highest bravery medal of the country after Ashok Chakra and Kirti Chakra.

President Draupadi Murmu on Friday presented 10 Kirti Chakras to the army and paramilitary forces at the Defence Investiture Ceremony held in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan, of which seven medals were given posthumously. Mustafa’s bravery medal was given to his parents.

Rashtrapati Bhavan posted on the social media platform ‘X’ and said, “President Draupadi Murmu conferred the Shaurya Chakra posthumously on Major Mustafa Bohra of 252 Army Aviation Corps. In October 2022, he made the supreme sacrifice for the nation and displayed exceptional courage and flying skills by steering the helicopter away from the populated area after it caught fire.” In a video shared on ‘X’ by the Defence Ministry spokesperson on Sunday, Fatima Bohra, who belongs to the Bohra community, shared memories of her son and his National Defence Academy (NDA) days.

He said, “When he stepped into NDA, his first decision was to serve the country. Money and other things do not matter much in life, respect is much more important.” He said, “Today you can see the full meaning of the respect he felt in the army that he has been awarded the Shaurya Chakra.”

Fatima said, “His journey during training was very inspiring. He always praised his friends. Seniors are the makers of your future and he always told me about the support of seniors.” Getting emotional, she said, “It is said that a mother knows things in advance, perhaps that is why I too had a premonition of his martyrdom and two days before the incident, I started crying, even stopped eating. Then the news of his death came.” She said, “Soldiers never die, they are immortal, rather I say they are not immortal, they move towards a new life… they live in your hearts, in my hearts, in the hearts of entire India.”
