New Delhi: Horror comedy film Stree 2 has become the first Hindi film to cross the Rs 600 crore mark at the domestic box office, the makers said on Monday. According to production house Maddock Films, the film has grossed Rs 604.22 crore net at the ticket window in India since its release on August 15.
Directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, “Stree 2” has grossed Rs 713 crore domestically, the banner said in a post. “Stree 2 has entered the Rs 600 crore club, becoming the first Hindi film to reach this milestone. Thank you for your unwavering love and support,” Maddock Films said on the social media platform X.
Last week, this film has surpassed the Hindi version of ‘Jawaan’ released in 2023 in terms of earnings. Till now ‘Jawaan’ had the title of the highest grossing Hindi film at the Indian box office.
The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer had grossed Rs 582 crore in India after its release in September last year. “Stree 2”, a sequel to 2018’s “Stree”, stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi and Aparshakti Khurana.
