Sukma: Five Naxalites surrendered, total reward was Rs 19 lakh

Sukma. Five Naxalites surrendered before security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Sukma district. Police officials said on Thursday that a total reward of Rs 19 lakh has been announced on the Naxalites. Sukma district’s Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said that the Naxalites have surrendered before senior police officers.

Chavan said that the Naxalites are disappointed with the atrocities committed by their senior Maoists and the “inhuman” and “hollow” Maoist ideology. He said that three women are also included among the surrendered Naxalites. The officer said that the surrendered Naxalites include Kawasi Dula (25), Sodhi Budhra (27) and woman Madkam Gangi (27), who were active in Platoon Number One as Deputy Commander, Section Commander and Section ‘A’ Commander respectively. Chavan said that all three Maoists have a reward of Rs 5 lakh each on their heads.

Chavan said that two other female Naxalites Podiyam Somdi (25) and Madkam Ayate (35) have a reward of Rs 2 lakh each on their heads. He said that the intelligence wing of the anti-Naxal cell of Sukma police and the police of the neighbouring state Odisha played an important role in their surrender.

The officer said that the Naxalites are accused of attacking the police team and damaging the roads and many other incidents. He said that all the surrendered Naxalites were given assistance of Rs 25,000 each and they will be rehabilitated as per the government policy.
