Raipur. On Monday, security forces killed a Naxalite in an encounter in Naxal-affected Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Police officials gave this information. Sukma District Superintendent of Police Kiran G Chavan said that a Naxalite has been killed in an encounter by security forces in the forest of Kistaram police station area of ​​the district.

The police officer said that on the information of Naxalite activities in Kistaram police station area, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (Cobra- an elite unit of CRPF) was sent for patrolling.
He told that when the security forces were in the forest, the Naxalites started firing. The soldiers also retaliated. After the firing stopped, when the spot was searched, the body of a Naxalite and a weapon were recovered from there.

The Superintendent of Police said that the identity of the slain Naxalite has not been established yet. Search operation is going on in the area. With this incident, 33 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters with security forces in Bastar region including Sukma district so far this year, police officials said. Sukma district is in Bastar Lok Sabha constituency where voting will be held in the first phase of general elections on April 19.
