Surajpur: Woman and her two granddaughters died due to wall collapse

Surajpur. A 55-year-old woman and her granddaughters died after being buried under a wall that collapsed in Chhattisgarh’s Surajpur district. Police officials gave this information on Tuesday. Police officials said that the incident took place on Monday evening in Karatama village of Jaynagar police station area and the deceased have been identified as Dhanmati Das (55) and her granddaughters Bijli (three) and Suhani (two). They said that the police received information that the girls were at home with their grandmother, while their parents had gone out for work. During this time, the three were buried under the kutcha wall when it collapsed.

Officials said that according to preliminary investigation, the mud wall had become weak due to rain, due to which it collapsed. He said that after the incident, the father of the children, with the help of neighbors, took all three to the Medical College Hospital of Ambikapur, the headquarters of neighboring Sarguja district, where doctors declared them dead. Police officials said that the police have registered a report of accidental death and the matter is being investigated.
