Jaipur. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday said that Swachh Bharat Mission is a powerful tool for women empowerment and livelihood generation and the Swachhata Abhiyan has brought about a revolutionary change in the mindset of people towards cleanliness. He was addressing the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2024’ campaign in Jhunjhunu.
He said, “During this decade, due to the initiative of the Prime Minister, there has been a revolutionary and widespread change in the mindset of the people. Their vision towards cleanliness has changed.” Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, he said, “Today we are also celebrating Vishwakarma Puja. Today is the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today is also a very big contribution in the work done by Modi ji in the country.” Dhankhar said that Prime Minister Modi’s announcement from the ramparts of the Red Fort on 15 August 2014 has proved to be the biggest revolutionary step in the world in a decade and due to this campaign, there has been a revolutionary and widespread change in the mindset of the people and their vision towards cleanliness has changed.
According to the official statement, he said, “Today, after a decade, a new beginning is being made, this campaign should not be limited to cleanliness. It will bring a change in our thoughts, change habits, positively affect the lifestyle and will make a tremendous contribution to economic development.” Dhankhar also said, “One great man was born on 17 September … the other great man was born on 2 October. The difference between the two is of a fortnight. This (cleanliness fortnight) is starting on the birthday of one, and it will end on the birthday of the other great man, but this is a continuous process that will not end.” Emphasizing on employment generation from the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Vice President said that at present we have 10 thousand self-help groups in the country who are earning their livelihood from this mission.
He said that through this, women power in the country has got a new momentum of economic development and self-reliance. Appreciating the ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ program, the Vice President appealed to all the Vice Chancellors and Principals to connect the youth with this program.
He said, “One and a half crore youth have come forward to join the vision of a developed India. This will change their mindset, improve their commitment towards nationalism and give an edge to our democracy.”
Dhankhar, while calling for a pledge to connect cleanliness with nature, sanskar and culture, said, “Swachh Bharat Mission has also become a powerful means of women empowerment and livelihood generation. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has eliminated a curse from the lives of mothers and sisters by building toilets.” Highlighting the radical change in waste management in India, he said that India has become an example in the world because today fuel, energy and compost are being made from waste. He said that before the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the country was trapped in the garbage cycle but today the garbage is trapped in the circular economy.
