Telangana: Villager killed in IED explosion planted by Maoists

Hyderabad. A 55-year-old man was killed when an IED, allegedly planted by a member of the banned CPI (Maoist), exploded in a forest area of ​​Telangana’s Mulugu district on Monday, police said. Police said the man stepped on an IED near Kongal village in Wajidu mandal of the district and died on the spot when it exploded.

A senior police officer said that the explosion occurred when the villager, his son and three others were going to collect wood in the nearby forest. According to the police, Maoists are often planting IEDs on the way of people to make their presence felt. Police said that on May 30, a pet dog of another villager died in a similar explosion. Police said that separate cases have been registered in Wajidu police station in connection with both the incidents.
