The actress met Chief Minister Mamata, urged to form a committee on the lines of Hema Committee

Actress Ritabhari Chakraborty met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and urged her to consider her earlier request to form a committee to probe allegations of sexual harassment in the Bengali film industry on the lines of the Hema Committee formed to probe sexual harassment in Malayalam cinema. Renowned Bengali cinema actress Ritabhari met the Chief Minister on Tuesday amid ongoing protests over the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Hospital last month.

Ritabhari said in a post on social media platform ‘Instagram’ on Wednesday, “The Chief Minister heard all the issues related to the problems of women in the Bengali film industry.” She said, “Yesterday, our request to form a committee similar to the Hema Committee was responded to from the official social media handle of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. My request that there should be no political name or film personality in the committee was accepted.
