The aim of the Waqf Bill is to destroy the Waqf Board and its properties instead of protecting them: Owaisi

The Uncut

Hyderabad. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday attacked the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and alleged that the proposed law is aimed not at protecting Waqf properties but at destroying them. Addressing a press conference here, the Hyderabad MP demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the proposed law.

Owaisi said, “Instead of protecting the Waqf Board and Waqf properties, this bill adopts a method to destroy them.” Accusing the BJP of spreading lies, he said that there is no provision to protect Waqf in this bill.
Owaisi alleged that in the name of protecting Waqf, Narendra Modi and his government’s intention is to destroy it.

Owaisi alleged, “A message has gone among the Muslims of the country that Narendra Modi wants to snatch Waqf properties from Muslims. We want the Prime Minister and the government to consider this and withdraw the proposed law.” The AIMIM chief also questioned various provisions of the bill, including giving power to the District Collector to decide on the ownership of disputed property and appointing non-Muslim members in the Waqf Board.

He said that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has decided to meet all non-BJP Chief Ministers to discuss issues related to the Wakf (Amendment) Bill. He said that the AIMPLB will meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and JDU leaders and other allies of the BJP and apprise them about the bill.
