Naushad Ahmed-Surajpur. Sarpanchs and peoples’ representatives from more than 40 panchayats of Pratappur assembly reached Surajpur Collectorate office due to non-construction of the agricultural college. There they expressed their displeasure over the non-construction of the agricultural college.
Actually, the gift of an agriculture college was given during the Congress government in Pratappur assembly of Surajpur. A survey was being conducted to identify the place for this. More than 300 acres of government land of Dhonda Panchayat was also earmarked for this. But after the formation of the new government, the site is being changed.
The villagers held a meeting
When the villagers came to know about this, all the Sarpanchs and common people of Pratappur, which has 101 Gram Panchayats, called the local MLA Shakuntala Singh in a meeting. But she did not reach the meeting. Before this also, everyone had pleaded with the MLA but nothing happened. After the MLA’s indifference, a large number of people, angry with the MLA and the survey officers, reached the Collectorate and expressed their displeasure.

The villagers gave a memorandum to the collector and said that if an agricultural college is not built in Dhonda, a fierce agitation will be carried out. People said that Pratappur is a very backward area. There is hope of some development due to the establishment of an agricultural college, but preparations are being made to shift it from Dhonda Panchayat to another place. Dhonda Panchayat is a place which falls between Pratappur and Vadrafnagar. Everyone will benefit from the construction of a college here.
If they are not listened to, the villagers will stage a violent protest
The place where the plan is to shift is an area adjacent to Ambikapur. The land where there is already an agricultural school is being described by all the officials as stone land, which is absolutely wrong. We all together made the MLA win the election. The MLA’s view does not seem right, while Minister Ram Vichar Netam has agreed. Even after that, if the place is changed, we are ready to fight the last battle. The way we made the MLA, we can also remove him.

The collector gave instructions to the SDM
Regarding the whole matter, District Collector Rohit Vyas said that today the Sarpanch and some public representatives had come with the demand to build an agricultural school there. We have instructed the SDM to go and inspect the suitable land. If land is found as per the requirement, then take action.
