Filmmaker Karan Johar on Tuesday said the success of horror-comedy film ‘Stree 2’ is a matter of joy for Hindi cinema as the last few years have not been good for it at the box office, which has also raised many questions. The film ‘Stree 2’ is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced under the banner of ‘Maddock Films’. It was released in theaters on 15 August. Starring Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, this film is the sequel to ‘Stree’ released in 2018. ‘Stree-2’ is close to earning Rs 300 crore worldwide.
Johar wrote on the social media platform ‘Instagram’, the film ‘Stree 2’ has shown that box office success can be achieved on the basis of good and well-connected stories. The filmmaker said, “The tremendous success of ‘Stree 2’ is not only a matter of happiness for ‘Maddock Films’, but it is also a matter of happiness for Hindi cinema and mainstream cinema … In the last few years, Hindi cinema has faced challenges at the box office and this has also raised many questions … After the global pandemic, the taste of the audience has changed and sometimes it becomes difficult to understand it.. “
