Amethi. Police have arrested three accused for allegedly raping a girl in Ramganj police station area of Amethi district and forcing her to convert to Islam. Police gave this information on Sunday. Ramganj police station in-charge inspector (SHO) Ajayendra Patel said on Sunday that the 18-year-old girl alleged in a police complaint on Saturday that she was lured and taken away. He said that the victim was deceived and made to sign some papers and was forced to convert to Islam.
The girl alleged that on July 5, 2024, people from a particular community lured her and took her to a place where an affidavit was already prepared and she was forced to sign it. She said that pressure was put on the victim to accept Islam, but when she did not agree, she was raped several times.
The station in-charge said that on the basis of his complaint, the police on Saturday registered an FIR against five people under various sections including the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act. Police sources said that three accused have been arrested but the identity of the arrested accused has not been revealed.
