Three people died and eight others were injured in a building collapse in Jharkhand

Deoghar. At least three people were killed and eight others injured when a two-storey building collapsed in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district on Sunday morning, officials said. Rescue operations, which began at 6 am, ended around 4 pm, officials said. Deoghar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vishal Sagar said 11 people were trapped under the debris when the building collapsed in the town this morning.

Sagar said, “Local people pulled out four children from the debris. We immediately sent a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to the spot, which pulled out seven people buried under the debris.” He said that all seven people were taken to Deoghar Sadar Hospital where doctors declared three of them dead. The DC said that the injured and the families of the deceased will be given compensation as per the government rules.

Deoghar’s Civil Surgeon Ranjan Sinha told PTI, “Of the seven people brought to the hospital, two were declared dead and a woman died during treatment. Four others, including a child, are being treated.” NDRF Inspector Randhir Kumar said that the rescue operation that lasted for 10 hours ended at 4.10 pm.
