New Delhi: CBI will now investigate the case of drowning of three students in Rao IAS Academy of Old Rajendra Nagar. Delhi High Court on Friday handed over the investigation of this incident to CBI. The High Court has taken this strict stand in view of the lax attitude of Delhi Police. The High Court said that CBI will investigate this case under the supervision of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).

A two-judge bench headed by Delhi High Court’s Acting Chief Justice Manmohan said, “Keeping in mind the nature of the incident and to ensure that the public does not have any doubts regarding the investigation, this court transfers the investigation to the CBI.” The court said that many senior officials may also be involved in the case and this decision has been taken considering its seriousness. The court said that the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is directed to appoint a senior officer to monitor the CBI investigation and the investigation should be completed in a timely manner.
