Ladakh: The country is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Kargil Diwas today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Ladakh to attend the anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The Kargil War commemorates India’s victory and honors the sacrifice of the soldiers who fought bravely. According to the PMO, ‘On the occasion of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, PM Narendra Modi will visit the Kargil War Memorial at around 9:20 am and pay tribute to the braves who made the sacrifice.

Let us tell you that Kargil Vijay Diwas is an important day in India, which is celebrated every year on 26 July. This day is celebrated in memory of the victory of the Indian Army in the Kargil War in 1999. The Kargil War started in May 1999, when the Pakistani Army captured parts of Kargil district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. In this war, the Indian Army fought a long and difficult battle against the Pakistani Army, in which many officers and soldiers were martyred.

On 26 July 1999, the Indian Army recaptured the Kargil peaks, after which the Pakistani army surrendered. After this victory, the Indian government declared 26 July as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
