Jammu. Two terrorists belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) organization were killed in an ongoing encounter in the upper reaches of Basantgarh in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials gave this information. They said that the bodies of two terrorists, who are believed to be from Pakistan, have been recovered from the spot. They said that an M-4 carbine, an AK rifle, a pistol and a large quantity of ammunition and food items have been recovered from the spot.
This is the first successful operation against terrorists in the dense forest, where more than six encounters have taken place in the last six months. A Gram Rakshak was killed in an encounter on April 28 and a CRPF inspector on August 19. Officials said that it is believed that another terrorist is hiding in the operation area at Khandra Top. He said that more security personnel have been sent to the spot. He said that the terrorists hiding in the area started firing on the search party at around 12.50 pm, after which the security forces also retaliated.
