Indian defender Udita Duhan was the most expensive seller for the first phase of the Hockey India Women’s League, bought by Srechi Rar Bengal Tigers for Rs 32 lakh in the auction on Tuesday. Netherlands’ drag-flicker Ybby Jansen was bought by Odisha Warriors for Rs 29 lakh. India’s Lalremsiami (Bengal Tigers, Rs 25 lakh), Sunelita Toppo (Delhi SG Pipers, Rs 24 lakh), Sangeeta Kumari (Delhi SG Pipers, Rs 22 lakh) also received good bids.

Among the foreign players, Charlotte Engelbert of Belgium (Surma Hockey Club, Rs 16 lakh), Charlotte Stapenhorst of Germany (Surma Hockey Club, Rs 16 lakh) and Jessalyn Bartram of Australia (Odisha Warriors, Rs 15 lakh) were bought at good prices. Experienced striker Vandana Kataria was signed by Bengal Tigers for 10. Bought for Rs 5 lakh. Indian captain Salima Tete (20 lakhs), Ishika Chaudhary (16 lakhs) and Neha Goyal (10 lakhs) were bought by Odisha Warriors. Former captain Savita (20 lakh), Shimla Devi (10 lakh) and Nikki Pradhan (12 lakh) were bought by Surma Hockey Club. Delhi SG Pipers bought international player Navneet Kaur (19 lakh), young goalkeeper Bichu Devi Kharibam (16 lakh) and Deepika (20 lakh).
