Gorakhpur. Police have arrested eight people in connection with the kidnapping and gang rape of two female ‘orchestra dancers’ at gunpoint in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. An official gave this information on Wednesday. Police said that the armed criminals forcibly made the two women sit in their vehicles and took them to a house and committed this crime. This incident happened when two victims were kidnapped from a house in Kushinagar’s Ramkola police station area on Monday night at gunpoint.
Kushinagar Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Mishra said, “The criminals came in two SUVs and while firing, took the women to the house of one of the accused Ajit Singh of Sohni village in Kaptanganj area, where they were gang-raped.” He said that the local police took immediate action and started investigating the case and arrested eight suspects within 24 hours.
The accused have been identified as Nagendra Yadav, Ashwan Singh, Krish Tiwari, Arthak Singh, Ajit Singh and Dr Vivek Seth, who were arrested on Monday night itself.
The officer said that the accused Arthak Singh is the son of local BJP leader Aditya Pratap Singh. Gorakhpur district president Yudhishthir Singh confirmed this and said, “Aditya Pratap Singh is a member of the BJP.” Another accused Dr Vivek Seth works in Gorakhpur. The officer said that two other accused Nisar Ansari and Aditya Sahni were spotted by the police near Paroraha village in Ramkola area. When challenged by the police, both of them opened fire but they were injured in police retaliatory action on Tuesday evening.
He said the items seized included two SUVs, a motorcycle without a number plate, an illegal factory-made pistol, four illegal pistols, ten cartridges, 11 mobile phones, a Nepali SIM card, Rs 63,600 in cash, 410 Nepali rupees and six ATM cards. Police said the accused were sent to jail and the case was being investigated.
