Uttarakhand: Delhi devotee missing from Rudranath trek, search continues Gopeshwar, October 4 (Language) A devotee from Delhi went missing while returning on foot after visiting Rudranath temple in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.

Chamoli District Officer Sandeep Tiwari told reporters here on Friday that Akash Gupta, who was part of a group that had come from Delhi on a pilgrimage to Rudranath, went missing near Pung stop while returning to Gopeshwar on foot after having darshan of Lord Rudranath late Thursday evening.

He said there were more than 40 devotees in the group and except Gupta, all others returned safely on foot on Thursday. Tiwari said that along with the local administration and forest department, teams of the state disaster response force have started searching for the missing devotee.

One has to walk about twenty kilometers to reach Rudranath temple where every year hundreds of travelers from India and abroad come to see Lord Shiva. From Sagar village and Anusuya Gate, this route passes through difficult and steep climb and dense forests and bugyalas. Incidents of passengers getting separated from their group keep happening here.

The District Magistrate said that this group had started their climb from Sagar village. Rudranath Temple is one of the most inaccessible temples of the Panchkedar chain in Uttarakhand.
