We will protect the Constitution which gives rights to Bahujans: Rahul

The Uncut

New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, while stressing on the need for inclusivity and equality in the country, said on Monday that Congress will protect the Constitution which gives share and rights to Bahujans. He shared a video of his visit to ‘Dalit Kitchen’ in Kolhapur, Maharashtra on ‘X’. In this video he can be seen helping in cooking.

The former Congress President said, “Even today very few people know about Dalit Kitchen. As Shahu Patole ji (associated with Dalit Kitchen) said, no one knows what Dalits eat. With curiosity about what they eat, how they cook it, and what is its social and political significance, I read Ajay Tukaram Sanade. Ji and Anjana spent an afternoon with Tukaram Sanade Ji.” He said, “In Kolhapur, Maharashtra, he invited me to his home with respect and gave me a chance to help in the kitchen. Together we made ‘Harabhyachi Bhaaji’ made with gram greens and toor dal with brinjal.” Gandhi said that the Constitution gives shares and rights to Dalitbahujans, and Congress will protect that Constitution.

According to him, the lack of awareness about the food and the importance of documenting this culture was discussed.
Rahul Gandhi said, “True inclusivity and equality of all in the society will be possible only when every Indian makes efforts with the spirit of brotherhood in his heart.”

Why is the Prime Minister delaying the census: Congress

Congress on Monday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the “delay” in the census and said that only through caste-based census, complete meaningful social, economic and political justice can be ensured in the fields of education and employment.

Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Amidst political change and economic turmoil, Sri Lanka has just announced that the latest population and housing census will start from today. The last census was conducted there in 2012.” He said, “What is happening regarding this in India? The decennial census was to be held in 2021 but there is still no sign of it happening.” The Congress leader said, “We are still using the data obtained from the 2011 census.” He said that due to this, more than 10 crore Indians are being deprived of the benefits under the National Food Security Act, 2013 i.e. Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

He asked what is the government’s view on adding caste questions to the census, as is being demanded by the Indian National Congress and all other political parties. Ramesh said, “The detailed census of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes has been conducted every 10 years since 1951. Now there is a need for a similar detailed census of Other Backward Classes (OBC) and other castes also.” He said that only through caste based census can complete meaningful social, economic and political justice be ensured in the field of education and employment. Ramesh said, “Why is the ‘non-biological’ Prime Minister delaying the census, in which caste-based enumeration will also be done?”
