Indore. Worms have been found in the stools of children who fell ill due to suspected food poisoning at a special children’s home in Indore, but it is not yet known why the children fell ill. Officials gave this information on Wednesday. They said that the number of children admitted to the hospital after falling ill in the children’s home has increased to 48.

Superintendent of Government Chacha Nehru Children’s Hospital, Dr. Preeti Malpani said, “A total of 48 children from the city’s Shri Yugpurush Dham Children’s Ashram are admitted in our hospital who had vomiting and diarrhea. Seven of these children are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The condition of three children admitted in the ICU is relatively serious.” She said that in the general laboratory test, worms have been found in the children’s stool, but only after the stool “culture” report comes, the situation will be clear as to why the children fell ill. Malpani said that the doctors have examined the health of about 150 children present in the children’s home and their condition has been found to be fine.

District Magistrate Ashish Singh said that the administration team will monitor the health of all the children in the ashram for the next 48 hours.
He said that only after the investigation report of the food and ration samples comes, it will be known what was the source of the suspected food poisoning.

The District Magistrate said that a total of four children of the ashram died on Monday and Tuesday due to infection caused by suspected food poisoning, while another child of this institution died on Sunday after a brain attack. He said that a high level committee of the administration is conducting a detailed investigation of the ashram on various aspects.
