120 children are sleeping on the floor in summer camp, no arrangement for beds

The Uncut

Ambikapur. The summer camp organized at the district headquarters for the children of PM Shri School has revealed a picture of chaos. A large number of children are being made to sleep on the floor in the room in the scorching heat. The children are sleeping on mattresses placed on the floor while due to the change in weather, there is a danger of snakes and scorpions. A few days ago a snake was found outside the hostel which was killed but even after this the management has not made arrangements for beds for the children to sleep. Regarding this chaos, the management’s argument is that the children themselves do not want to sleep on the beds and they like sleeping on the floor but this poses a danger.

Let us tell you that, on the instructions of the government, a summer camp has been organized for the children of primary schools run under the PM Shri scheme. The summer camp is being conducted in the district headquarters from 21 to 30 May. In this summer camp, 15-15 children have been brought for the summer camp from two PM Shri schools operating in Ambikapur block as well as eight PM Shri schools operating in all the development blocks of the district. In this way, a total of 120 children are present in the summer camp. The children have been kept in a 100-seater boys hostel where they are being taught yoga, music, dancing, painting and other activities, but amidst all this, a picture of chaos has emerged in the summer camp. There is a lot of chaos at the place where the children have been kept for the summer camp. The children are being made to sleep on the ground in the hostel, while it is currently summer season and it is also raining intermittently. Due to rain and humidity, snakes and other poisonous reptiles come out. In such a situation, there is a threat to the children.

kids are getting sick

On the first day of the summer camp, a krait snake was found outside the hostel, which was killed but even after this the arrangements did not improve. The hostel has the facility of beds, yet dozens of children are being made to sleep in one room. Because of this chaos, children are falling sick and recently some children were brought to the Medical College Hospital for treatment, most of whom were suffering from vomiting, diarrhoea and fever. The surprising thing is that even the officials are admitting that the children were made to sleep on the floor.

voluntarily sleeping on the ground

Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan District Mission Coordinator Ravi Shankar Tiwari said that 120 children from 8 PM Shri schools from all the development blocks have been brought to the summer camp. Arrangements for the children’s stay and food have been made in the boys’ hostel. There are beds in the hostel but the children are sleeping on the floor as per their wish. The building is at a height so there is no danger from reptiles.
