Aurangabad: A court in Bihar’s Aurangabad district has sentenced 16 people to life imprisonment in the case of murder of a 65-year-old man in the name of black magic in the year 2020. Additional District and Sessions Judge (II) Sanjay Mishra of Aurangabad Civil Court, while hearing the case registered in Kutumba police station, sentenced 16 accused to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each.
Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Rajaram Choudhary said on Saturday that Pushpa Devi, wife of Sonu Ram, a resident of Samda Ibrahimpur village in the Kutumba police station area, had lodged an FIR at the Kutumba police station on August 13, 2020, accusing 16 people of the village of killing her father-in-law, Jagdish Ram, with sharp weapons.
According to the FIR, Jugal Ram, son of Bhuvaneshwar Ram of the same village, died of some disease on 9 August 2020. All the accused killed his father-in-law by accusing him of practicing black magic.
The court has sentenced all 16 accused to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 each.
