400m runner Dipanshi fails dope test, suspended by NADA

The Uncut

New Delhi. NADA has suspended India’s top female 400m runner Dipanshi, who recently won a silver medal in the National Inter-State Championships, for failing a dope test. Dipanshi (21 years) had finished second in the women’s 400m final in Panchkula on Friday after Kiran Pahal (50.92 seconds) with a time of 52.01 seconds.

‘Anabolic steroid’ has been found in the dope sample taken during the tournament. These samples were taken on 27 June (after the heat race or in the semi-finals). This is the first dope positive case in the National Inter-State Championship (27 to 30 June) which was also the last qualifying tournament for the Paris Olympics. Deepanshi does not train in the national camp.
