Army sets up culture, heritage museum in West Kameng, Arunachal

Itanagar: The Indian Army has established the Kameng Culture and Heritage Museum at Nyukmadung in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. An officer gave this information. In a press release, Guwahati-based Army Public Relations Officer Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat said that under the ‘Vibrant Village Program’ (VVP), the museum will serve as a cultural beacon of commitment towards peace, security and nation building through community integration. He said that Arunachal Pradesh has a deep connection with Indian civilization, which is mentioned in Kalika Purana and Mahabharata. Lieutenant Colonel Rawat said that this museum is full of information from innumerable historical monuments and archaeological sites. He said that this museum is a joint effort of the Indian Army and the local community.

The museum has been built on land donated by the local community who have also voluntarily donated 343 artefacts. The Kameng Cultural and Heritage Museum is professionally and aesthetically preserved by the National Institute of Museums, Art History, Conservation and Museology.

The museum has a state-of-the-art movie hall, showcasing Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural and heritage ties with India. A refreshment stand and a children’s park have also been created for the tourists.
Lieutenant Colonel Rawat said that the museum will be inaugurated on October 23 by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu in the presence of Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan and General Officer Commanding of Gajraj Corps Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh.
