Akhilesh raised questions on the credibility of exit polls…

The Uncut

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday questioned the credibility of exit polls and claimed that the exit poll agencies were “only trying to create an atmosphere in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Addressing a press conference ahead of the counting of votes on June 4, Yadav said, “The victory of the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDA) is the victory of the country and the people.” Yadav said, “We and you (media) were among the people to strengthen democracy. We all have seen that there were no people in their (BJP) rallies, their tents were empty… there was nothing in their favor.”

Questioning the exit polls, he said that many of the agencies conducting the exit polls are the same ones that used to do booth management for the BJP.

He said, “They (exit poll agencies) are creating an atmosphere in favour of the BJP.” The SP president said, “The elections are over. Exit polls are showing many things. The BJP is responsible for many things. They spoiled the peace and brotherhood. They conspired to end reservation. They increased crimes against women.

They gave rise to inflation and unemployment. The poor became poorer.” Exit polls released on Saturday predicted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will retain power for a third consecutive term and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is expected to win a massive majority in the Lok Sabha elections.
