Poonch/Jammu. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the operational preparedness of the troops along the Line of Control. Officials gave this information. This is his first visit to the Jammu region after taking over as the 30th Army Chief on June 30. His visit is important in view of the Amarnath Yatra and anti-terrorism operations in various places, especially the hilly districts. Officials said that the Army Chief reached Jammu in the morning and left for the border district Poonch to review the security situation and operational preparedness along the Line of Control.
The Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information said in a post on ‘X’ that the Army Chief, along with Northern Command Commander Lieutenant General Suchindra Kumar and Jammu-based White Knight Corps General Officer Commanding Lieutenant General Naveen Sachdeva, chaired a meeting of field commanders in Poonch and then conducted an aerial review of the forward areas.
Additional Directorate General of Public Information said, “He was briefed on operational preparedness by the commanders on the ground. The Army Chief praised all ranks for maintaining high standards of functioning and encouraged them to remain resolute in facing all existing and emerging security challenges.” The Army Chief also interacted with some soldiers. Officials said he is scheduled to return to Delhi in the evening. General Dwivedi served as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command from 2022 to 2024.
