BJP leader Vijay Goyal sent an ambulance for Arvind Kejriwal

The Uncut

New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Goel on Saturday sent an ambulance to take Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to a hospital for a medical check-up after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener claimed that he may be suffering from a serious ailment.

On May 26, he had moved the Supreme Court seeking extension of his interim bail on the ground that he needed to undergo some medical tests, including a PET-CT scan. He had claimed in his plea that he had lost seven kilograms of weight in jail and that his ketone level was also “very high”. He said this could be a sign of serious illness.

The police today stopped the ambulance and Goyal before they could reach the Chief Minister’s residence in Civil Lines area here.
On May 10, the apex court had granted Kejriwal interim bail for 21 days to enable him to participate in the Lok Sabha election campaign. Kejriwal was arrested in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam.

The Supreme Court had directed that Kejriwal surrender on June 2, a day after the last phase of polling. Goyal alleged that Kejriwal was “doing drama” by citing his health issues to gain people’s sympathy.

He told reporters, “This ambulance was to take Kejriwal to any such hospital where all his tests could be done within two to four hours.” Goyal, a former Union minister, said if the chief minister was concerned about his health, he should stop this “drama” and accompany him for the tests.

Earlier, AAP leader and minister Atishi had claimed in a press conference that Kejriwal has lost seven kilograms of weight and his ketone level is also high and doctors have said that this could be a symptom of a problem in his kidney or cancer. Kejriwal’s interim bail plea may be heard in a Delhi court today.
