Deepika loses to Lim, will return empty handed from World Cup

The Uncut

Yecheon. Deepika Kumari, who is making a comeback to the international stage after becoming a mother, missed out on her second consecutive medal in the Archery World Cup, losing to world number two archer Lim Sihyeon and number three Alejandra Valencia. Indian archers will have to return empty-handed from the recurve category from the second stage of the World Cup, while they have won one gold and one silver medal in the compound category. Recurve events are part of the Olympics.

India has won gold in the women’s team event in the compound category and silver in the mixed team event, but except Deepika, no archer in the recurve category reached the medal round. 20-year-old Lim of South Korea won the semi-finals 28.26, 28.28, 28.27, 28.27. Deepika, who won the silver medal in the Shanghai World Cup last month, showed a lot of fighting spirit, but a score of eight thrice in the first, third and fourth sets proved to be too much for her. In the bronze medal match, she lost to Valencia 4-4 (26.29, 26.28, 28.25, 27.25, 26.29).
