Drug-terror module busted in Kupwara, three arrested

Srinagar: Security forces busted a narco-terror module in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, arresting three persons and recovering arms, ammunition and contraband material from them, police said on Saturday.

A police spokesperson said that they received information that a person was looking for a buyer to sell heroin, following which police and army launched the operation in Karnah area of ​​north Kashmir district.

The spokesperson said that two persons were arrested and more than 500 grams of heroin was seized from them. The spokesperson said that the accused have been identified as Shafiq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Khawarparab Karnah and Tariq Ahmad Malik, a resident of Baghballa.

The spokesperson said that investigation revealed that another person was also involved in their gang, who has been identified as Parvez Ahmad Pathan, a resident of Sadhpura. He said that Pathan was arrested in a joint raid by police and army and three pistols, 76 cartridges, six magazines and about five kilograms of suspected explosives were recovered from him. The spokesperson said that a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
