Exit polls are absurd, Congress will win 15 to 20 seats in Karnataka: Siddaramaiah

The Uncut

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday supported party leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement that exit polls were a poll by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s media. He claimed that the Congress will win 15 to 20 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka.

Rahul Gandhi on Sunday termed the exit polls as ‘Modi Media Polls’. Exit polls telecast on various TV channels on Saturday after the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections have predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will get majority in the Lok Sabha for the third consecutive time.

The exit polls have also predicted that the BJP and Janata Dal Secular alliance will win by a huge margin in Karnataka and the state’s ruling Congress party will not cross double digits. “Rahul Gandhi has already reacted to the exit polls,” Siddaramaiah told reporters.

He called it Narendra Modi media survey. We will win most of the seats in Karnataka, we will win 15 to 20 seats. (M) Mallikarjun Kharge (Congress president) has said that ‘India’ alliance will win 295 seats across the country. I support it.

In the last general election, Congress contested in alliance with JD(S) and both the parties won just one seat each while BJP won 25 seats. An independent candidate won the Mandya seat with the support of BJP. This time JD(S) is contesting in alliance with BJP and has fielded its candidates in Hassan, Mandya and Kolar regions.
