Exit polls are ‘fake’, a ‘deliberate attempt’ to justify rigging: Congress

The Uncut

New Delhi/Mumbai. The Congress on Sunday termed the exit polls as “fake” and said it was a “deliberate attempt” to justify electoral fraud and part of a “psychological game” being played by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to demoralise the workers of the ‘India’ alliance.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh also attacked the prime minister for holding several meetings, including a long brainstorming session to review the 100-day agenda of the “new government”. He said this was a “pressure tactic” to send a signal to the bureaucracy and administrative machinery that he was returning to power.

Ramesh told PTI-Bhasha at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters here, “It is all a mind game – ‘I am coming back, I am going to be the Prime Minister again.’ He is sending a signal to the bureaucracy, the administrative machinery of the country and we hope that the civil servants who are responsible for fair counting of votes will not be afraid of these tactics of creating pressure.” He also said that the exit polls released on Saturday evening are “completely fake” and “fabricated by the person who is sure to be out of power on June 4.”

The Congress leader said, “This is part of the psychological game being played by the outgoing Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) and the outgoing Home Minister (Amit Shah). The outgoing Home Minister spoke to 150 District Magistrates and District Magistrates yesterday. The results of the exit polls have nothing to do with reality.” Exit polls on Saturday predicted that Prime Minister Modi will return to power for the third consecutive time and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) may win the Lok Sabha elections with a huge majority.

Criticising the exit polls, Ramesh said that in some states, NDA has been given more seats than the number of seats available in that state. Ramesh said, “India Janabandhan parties met yesterday, we did a state-wise analysis and India Janabandhan will not get less than 295 seats at any cost.” He said, “This is a deliberate attempt to justify rigging, it is a deliberate attempt to justify EVM tampering and it is also a psychological way to demoralise Congress workers and India Janabandhan workers. We are not going to be scared and you will see that on June 4, there will be a huge difference in the actual results as compared to these exit polls.” The Congress general secretary said that these are political exit polls and not professionally conducted exit polls.

Exit polls are a ‘corporate game and fraud’: Sanjay Raut

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday termed the ‘exit poll’ as a ‘corporate game and fraud’ and claimed that there was pressure on the media companies releasing the ‘exit poll’. While talking to reporters, Sanjay Raut claimed that the opposition alliance ‘INDIA’ (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) will win 295 to 310 seats in the 543-member House (Lok Sabha) and form the government.

Raut also said that he does not need ‘exit polls’ as he works on the ground and is aware of the silent wave.
The exit poll released on Saturday predicted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will remain in power for the third consecutive term. It predicted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will get a huge majority in the Lok Sabha elections. Raut claimed, “There is a lot of pressure on these media companies. The exercise of exit polls is a corporate game and fraud.” He asked, “Do these companies conduct exit polls for free?”
