Girl’s body found in Krishnanagar, Bengal; murder after rape

Krishnanagar. The body of a girl was found on Wednesday in Krishnanagar of Nadia district in West Bengal. The girl was allegedly raped and murdered. Police gave this information. Police said that on the basis of the complaint given by the parents of the deceased, a person has been arrested, who is said to be the fiance of the girl.

The complaint alleges that the girl was allegedly gang-raped and murdered.
Police said that the body of the girl was found in a field near the Durga Puja pandal in Ashrampura area. The girl’s face was burnt with acid and her clothes were also torn. Police said that the body has been sent for post-mortem. The victim’s parents alleged that she was gang-raped and murdered and that their daughter’s face was burnt to destroy evidence.

The family demanded that the post-mortem be videographed in the presence of a magistrate and the autopsy be conducted by specialist doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Kalyani. The girl’s mother claimed that her daughter had gone out with her fiance on Tuesday evening, but did not return home. He said that even after interrogating the person over phone, no trace of him could be found.

After this incident, tension spread in the area and the opposition Congress and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) protested in front of the Kotwali police station and alleged that the girl was raped and murdered.
Both the parties also demanded the post-mortem to be conducted in the presence of a magistrate.
