Government is telling white lies in NEET case: Kharge

The Uncut

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said that lakhs of youth are being told blatant lies and their future is being ruined in the case of the Central Government’s affidavit in the case of medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024.

In fact, amid growing demand to cancel the controversial NEET-UG 2024 exam, the Center and the National Examination Agency (NTA) on Friday told the Supreme Court that cancelling it would be extremely prejudicial and would be quite detrimental to the larger public interest, particularly the career prospects of those who qualify it.

Kharge posted on ‘X’, “Modi Govt has told the Hon’ble Supreme Court that there was no paper leak in NEET-UG! This is a blatant lie being told to lakhs of youth. Their future is being ruined. Education Ministry has said that ‘there have been irregularities/cheating only at a few places’. This is misleading.”

He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have taken control of the entire education system and encouraged the education mafia. Kharge said, “Be it NCERT books or irregularities in examinations, the Modi government is hell-bent on destroying our education system.”

He said, “We reiterate that NEET-UG should be conducted again and it should be done online in a transparent manner. All paper leak scandals should be thoroughly investigated under the supervision of the Supreme Court and strict action should be taken against the culprits.” Kharge said, “Modi government cannot escape from its actions.”

The NTA conducts NEET-UG for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions. The exam was held on May 5 this year, in which about 23 lakh candidates appeared at 4,750 examination centers in 571 cities. Due to allegations of irregularities including question paper leak, protests took place in many cities and opposition parties raised the issue. Many cases were also filed in the courts in this regard.
