I don’t want to become a minister: Kerala’s only BJP MP Suresh Gopi

The Uncut

Thrissur. Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi on Thursday said he is not thinking of becoming a Union minister, he just wants the ministry to implement the projects proposed by him for the welfare of the people of Kerala. Gopi has created history in Kerala by winning the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat for the BJP. He requested that he should not be limited to one ministry, as he can do more for the people as an MP than as a minister.

When asked by reporters which ministry he would like to lead, he said, “Please do not limit me to one room. As an MP I can handle different ministries. I do not want to become a minister. There can be new revolutionary platforms to work on.” He further said, “I just want that when I take a project for the people of Kerala with determination, the concerned ministry should implement it.” Gopi also said that his work as an MP will not be limited to this because he won from Thrissur.

He said that he will work as an MP for Kerala and also for the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu. The victory of the BJP leader in Thrissur is a big blow to the ruling CPI(M)-led LDF and the Congress-led UDF, who had rejected various exit polls till the last moment. These exit polls had predicted Gopi’s victory and the lotus blooming in the state, i.e. the victory of the BJP.
