India retain top spot in ICC rankings ahead of T20 World Cup

Dubai. India, winner of the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, retained its top spot in the men’s T20I T20 rankings ahead of the upcoming edition in the West Indies and the US. India have 264 rating points. Two-time champion West Indies have moved up to fourth place with their players in excellent form ahead of the T20 World Cup. The 2012 and 2016 edition winners are ahead of New Zealand and South Africa after a 3-0 win over South Africa. South Africa have slipped to seventh place.

While 2021 champion Australia is in second place with 257 points, defending champion England is third with 254 points and West Indies is two points behind at 252 points. New Zealand has 250 points while Pakistan and South Africa both have 244 points. Pakistan is ahead of South Africa in decimal calculation.

West Indies players performed well in the home series before the tournament begins against Papua New Guinea on June 2, which benefited them in the rankings. The results of the series between Bangladesh and America and the ongoing series between England and Pakistan were also given place in the latest update.
