By putting drug addiction in the category of a punishable crime, strict action is now being initiated. Under this Act, advertisements of cigarettes and other tobacco products have been prohibited. A warning has been issued to take strict action against the sale of cigarettes or other tobacco products within the campus of any educational institution.
Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh said that for a week, if anyone is found smoking in a public place or selling to a minor, he will first be given a warning. After that, the smoking material will be confiscated and strict challan action will also be taken. For this, the team formed is organizing awareness programs on a wide scale in various institutions, schools, colleges and villages.
