Lakshya Sen in quarterfinals of Indonesia Open

Jakarta. India’s star badminton player Lakshya Sen reached the men’s singles quarter-finals of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 tournament by defeating Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto, while other players of the country had to face defeat. Sen won 21-9, 21-15 against Nishimoto in the pre-quarterfinals.

However, Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand lost in the women’s doubles and were eliminated. They lost to Japan’s Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara 21-19, 19-21, 19-21. Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa were also defeated by South Korea’s Ha Na Baek and So Hee Lee 21-13, 19-21, 21-13, thus ending India’s challenge in the women’s doubles.

In mixed doubles, B Sumeet Reddy and Sikki Reddy lost 9-21, 11-21 in a one-sided match against the Chinese pair of Siwei Zheng and Yaqiong Huang. In men’s singles, Priyanshu Rajawat also lost 10-21, 17-21 against defending world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand despite giving a tough fight.
